Not every new member walks in with a gym bag. Some come with a business card. Employers are looking for new ways to support their teams’ health and productivity, and your gym can be part of that solution. Here are four reasons why you should consider offering corporate memberships at your gym.

🏋️ It’s predictable and recurring revenue. Corporate memberships often mean bulk sign-ups and consistent monthly income, so it's a reliable stream that can help you plan ahead and reduce reliance on seasonal trends.

🏋️ It’s likely to increase off-peak usage in your gym, especially if employees are encouraged to exercise during the working day or over their lunchtimes.

🏋️ It’s good marketing, especially if office employees are encouraged to share their workouts online. Companies are going hard for ESG (environmental, social, and governance) and workplace wellbeing, and offering a corporate membership is a big draw for any potential future employees. They're likely to feature this in their HR branding, marketing and annual reports. If your gym has electricity-generating indoor bikes, the sustainability angle is even stronger. Companies will like that their employees are helping power your studio. It makes them look good to their stakeholders.

🏋️ Corporate employees typically have more disposable income, meaning greater potential for upselling premium services like personal training, nutrition workshops, merchandise or small group private classes.

How to approach companies about corporate gym membership

🤝 If you think you're a good match, ask your local members to make an introduction to their HR department.

🔎 Look for local wellbeing-focused companies. If they're within walking distance, even better.

🙏 Go easy on the sales pitch by suggesting a partnership, framing it as mutually beneficial. Research shows that exercise increases productivity and focus, lean into that.

📈 Have a clear and flexible offer on pricing. You can offer tiered discounts depending on the number of employees (the more signed up, the bigger the discount), off-peak memberships (ideal for lunchtimes and early afternoons), day passes or corporate classes.

🚲 A trial week can help you hone your offering, even if the company says no afterwards. You could also offer a ‘wellbeing day’ where you host a short in-office class. If nothing else, you’ll spread awareness, potentially reaching dozens of people who live or work nearby.

🏋 And remember, it doesn’t need to be full-on memberships. You could arrange classes or corporate events. PWR Hour at Bloomberg HQ and Samsung KX had our electricity-generating bikes for their events. We know from experience that teams go hard, tap into that competitive nature.

🙂 Start small. One conversation with the right company could lead to a long-term partnership and a new audience of loyal members.
