At Energym, we’re all about finding smart, meaningful ways to make fitness more sustainable – and our recent partnership with Oakwood Sports Centre in Horley is a brilliant example of what that can look like in action. Earlier this year, Oakwood launched Spin Box – a compact indoor cycling studio with a twist. Built inside a repurposed shipping container and fitted with 11 of our RE:GEN bikes, it’s a first-of-its-kind set-up for a UK community leisure site, and it’s already making waves with local riders. Pedal Power Meets Smart Design From the outside, Spin Box looks like a rugged container – but step inside and you’ll find a high-performance, tech-enhanced cycling experience. Our RE:GEN bikes don’t just deliver a tough workout – they also capture the energy generated by each rider and turn it into clean electricity. A Studio That Works Hard - Just Like Its Members Spin Box was designed to be compact, efficient and community-driven. It brings the atmosphere of a boutique studio into a space that’s cleverly repurposed, proving you don’t need a massive footprint to make a big impact. Sessions are powered by Intelligent Cycling software, with immersive visuals and performance tracking that help keep members motivated. The bikes also feature our group-erg mode, which automatically adjusts resistance to match the workout – great for beginners and performance-focused riders alike. “We really wanted something different when we were upgrading our indoor cycle space. Energym has bought unique features like electronic shifting and erg-mode, which really sets us apart from other indoor cycle studios. Members correctly expect top quality nowadays and Energym has bought this to Oakwood. It's also allowed us to work towards our sustainability goals and attract new members who wouldn't have considered indoor cycling before.” Dan Morgan, Oakwood Sports Centre. More Than Just a Workout For Oakwood, this is part of a wider redevelopment of their gym space – including new HIIT and HYROX areas, extra kit and an expanded class timetable. But Spin Box is something special: a statement of intent. It shows how forward-thinking community leisure can be – both in terms of experience and sustainability. “From the start, Dan and the team at Oakwood have been incredibly forward-thinking — not just in creating an inspiring space for their members, but in exploring how fitness can help drive real sustainability,” says Natasha, Sales Manager at Energym. “Spin Box is a brilliant example of how community leisure can lead the way in smart, energy-aware design, and we’re proud to have partnered with such a passionate, visionary team.” \We’re excited to keep building on this – and we’re already working on how we can help even more sites take their group cycling offer to the next level, with smarter kit, stronger community engagement and real environmental impact.
