Powering Up: Events And Our Electricity-Generating Fitness Bikes

There's nothing like seeing your product out in the wild. And if you’ve been following the Energym story, you’ll know our electricity-generating RE:GEN bikes have been several years in the making. Innovation takes time. From that first tentative idea scribbled on the back of a napkin to proof of concept, design, refinement, certification and shipping, it’s been quite the journey!

Events have been key components in the development of our technology, allowing us to talk to decision-makers and riders, test the software and durability and show that the RE:GEN isn't just a gimmick or science experiment. It’s a serious fitness bike that not only generates and stores clean electricity but also provides an intense and immersive riding experience.

It’s also a great sustainable event idea, combining eco-friendly power with a competitive but fun physical challenge.

Events have also given the UK market a closer look at what we can offer gyms. Earlier in 2024, we completed our first gym installation in Berlin. Storm Cycle Studio offers an indoor cycling class with an immersive nightclub vibe and a focus on sustainability, but it’s in Germany. Events and exhibitions allow us to demonstrate our technology locallyThat’s why we exhibited at PerformX Live in London. We took several event bikes and our power tower to demonstrate our technology to gym owners and PTs. It was a chance for people to see the product in action and for us to explain how the energy is generated by the bikes and stored inside an energy storage system (ESS). We also showed visitors the Ohm, which is a portable battery unit that locks onto the RE:GEN home bike.

Tryb World's PWR Hour at Samsung KX in June was our second event of the year. Corporate teams from across the capital competed against one another in a team-based relay event to see who could generate the largest amount of clean energy for local charity, Greenhouse Sports. Some teams had ex-Olympians racing on the bikes, so it was a great test of durability and rideability. The results were fed into a live leaderboard that tracked energy generation throughout the event.

At the end of the event, 4,930Wh of clean energy was generated and stored, which Greenhouse Sport will use to support disadvantaged young people through physical activity.

We've got more events coming up for 2024/25. We’ll share them here, but you can also follow us on Instagram and LinkedIn
